Yngwie Malmsteen is a Swedish guitarist, songwriter, and musician. He is known as one of hard rock’s greatest guitarists. Yngwie is the son of Rigmor Lolita Cecilia (Malmsten) and Karl Fride Lennart Lannerbäck. Yngwie is married to entrepeneur April, with whom he has a son.

Yngwie’s paternal grandfather was Karl Astor Andersson (later Lannerbäck, the son of Johan Andersson and Inger Christina Andersdotter). Karl was born in Varberg, Halland County, Sweden. Johan was the son of Anders Andreasson and Inger Christina Andreasdotter. Yngwie’s great-grandmother Inger Andersdotter was the daughter of Anders Carlsson and Anna Christina Olofsdotter.

Yngwie’s paternal grandmother was Elsa Josefina Brandt (the daughter of Gustaf Alfred Jönsson, later Brandt, and of Josefina Persson). Elsa was born in Oslo, Norway, to Swedish parents. Gustaf was the son of Jöns Johansson and Anna Maria Andersdotter. Josefina was the daughter of Per Månsson and Tyra Andersson.

Yngwie’s maternal grandfather was Johan Erik Folke Johansson (later Järredal, the son of Johan Gunnar Johansson and Maria Theresia Johansson). Yngwie’s maternal grandmother was Maud Birgit Öllegård Malmsten (the daughter of Johan Albert, later John Albin, Malmsten, and of Gerda Cecilia Lindblom). John was the son of Carl Gustaf Eugén Malmsten and Olga Gustafva Elisabeth Blomgren. Gerda was the daughter of Anders Johan Lindblom and Charlotta Carlsdotter.
