Barry White was an American singer, songwriter, and composer. His works included soul, funk, and disco songs, including “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love, Babe” and “You’re the First, the Last, My Everything.” He was also known as Lee Barry.

He was the son of Sadie Marie Carter, an actress, and Melvin A. White. He was raised partly in the Watts section of South Central Los Angeles, California. He had four children with his former wife Mary; four children with his former wife, singer Glodean James; and a daughter with Gurtha Allen.
