Shyne is a Belizean rapper and politician. As a rapper, he is known for his time on Bad Boy Records from 2000 to 2001. In Belize, he has been Leader of the Opposition, from June 25, 2021 to September 16, 2021, and a Member of the Belize House of Representatives for Mesopotamia, since November 11, 2020.

Shyne is the son of Frances Imeon Myvette and Dean Barrow (Dean Oliver Barrow), who served as Prime Minister of Belize, from 8 February, 2008 to 12 November, 2020. His uncle (mother’s brother) is Belize politician Michael Finnegan (born Michael Myvett), who was the previous Member of the Belize House of Representatives for Mesopotamia, from 30 June, 1993 to 11 November, 2020, before Shyne replaced him in the seat. Shyne has stated that his mother has partial Ethiopian Jewish ancestry.

In 2006, he legally changed his name to Moses Michael Levi Barrow. He converted to Orthodox Judaism in Israel in 2010.

Shyne moved with his mother to Brooklyn, New York City, New York, U.S., when he was a child. He began a rap career there, before being deported to Belize in 2009 due to his criminal conviction.

Shyne’s paternal grandfather was Arthur Innes Barrow (the son of Ebenezer Oliver Buntin Barrow and Iris Sebastian).

Shyne’s paternal grandmother was named Joyce Erica Lindo.
