Markus Persson, also known as Notch, is a Swedish video game programmer and designer. He created the sandbox for video game Minecraft. He also founded video game company Mojang, alongside Carl Manneh and Jakob Porsér, in late 2010. He founded game studio Rubberbrain.

His mother, Ritva Päivikki (Rantala), is Finnish, from Jyväskylä, Central Finland. His father, Karl Gösta Birger Persson, was Swedish. He has a daughter with his former wife Elin Zetterstrand.
